Wear and Tear (Chains, Sprockets & Rollers)

Constromech sensor suite keeps a vigilant watch on the gradual wear of critical moving components. Smart wear indicators use inputs like chain elongation, drive motor torque, and cycle counts to estimate the remaining useful life of belts and chains. By analysing stress cycles (elevator starts/stops, load levels, etc.), the system computes a “wear budget”

For example, predicting when a bucket elevator belt’s splice or a conveyor chain will approach end-of-life. Dedicated sensors also monitor the condition of sprockets and rollers: vibration and acoustic signatures can reveal a missing or broken roller in a pan conveyor long before it causes a major chain derailment. Similarly, changes in chain pull or speed consistency might indicate sprocket tooth wear or chain link stretch beyond acceptable limits.

Armed with these insights, maintenance teams can replace worn sprockets or chains during planned downtime, avoiding the massive disruption of an unexpected failure. In essence, the system converts what used to be invisible gradual wear into quantifiable data and actionable maintenance prompts.
